RECYCLING INFORMATION AND EVENTS

Household Hazardous Waste Disposal. Thursdays 2pm-6pm through Sept. 30.   5303 South Cedar St., Lansing. Ingham County residents can dispose of common household hazardous items, including gardening chemicals. Check the website for items they do and do not accept.

Polystyrene food and beverage containers at the following locations:

  • Dart Container, 432 Hogsback Road, Mason. 24 hours/7 days.  (517) 676-3800
  • St. Johns Lion Club, Corner of Swegles and Steel Str., St. Johns.
  • Charlotte Area Recycling, 201 Hull Str., Charlotte. Tue 10am-noon and 3:30pm-7pm. (517) 541-0151

Packaging peanuts can be dropped off for reuse at UPS stores in Lansing, East Lansing and Okemos. Pack Mail in East Lansing. Mail Ports Plus in Holt.

Working cell phones can be dropped off for reuse at the Prime Time Seniors’ Program in the East Lansing Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road. Please include charger.

Cell phones that are outdated or no longer work can be dropped off for recycling during operating hours at:

  • DPW Recycling Site, 1800 E. State Road (open 24 hours)
  • City Hall, 410 Abbot Road
  • Department of Public Works office, 1800 E. State Road
  • East Lansing Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road
  • East Lansing Public Library, 950 Abbot Road
